SubscribeI had one final beach session last weekend in Capitola. The weather was absolutely beautiful! If only the beach were closer (sigh). These two little boys were so fun! I think little W is going to be a track star when he gets older! He had so much fun running all over the beach! Hope you guys had a great trip!
Whew! Are you tired of seeing beach portraits yet? 
This is my last beach session to post for now. I have lots of other sessions to post as well (I’ve done 10 sessions in the last two weeks!) Anyway, here is the awesome P family! (Oh, and Amy, you’ll never believe this! Clark found my skimboard that evening during my last session! It had either washed up on the beach or someone swiped it while we were taking pictures!).
Well, I’ve only got one more session to edit from the Beach Portraits last week! This was a great session (and I was so thrilled that the lighting finally decided to cooperate!)
I have so many favorites from our Beach Limited Edition sessions — and I still have two more sessions to go! The weather has been beautiful (although at this point I’m praying for some clouds so I dont’ have to deal with such harsh sun!) Here are a few from the first day:

OK, the Beach Limited Edition Sessions are coming up in just a couple of weeks so I thought I would do one last Fashion Friday dedicated to beach portraits (although these outfits would work for other sessions as well).
OK, I know it’s not Friday, but I’ve missed the last couple of Fridays and I’ll probably miss this Friday as well. I’ve had a lot of people asking me recently about what their family should wear for our upcoming beach pictures. I”ll probably focus on family beach pictures a couple more times before our event, but here’s what I found this week. (By the way, Old Navy is having a great sale!!). All of these outfits are from Old Navy this week.
I’ve had a lot of inquiries lately about when I’m doing beach portraits this year. So here you go! I will be holding beach sessions from October 13-17. Usually one session in the morning and one session in the evening. This year I’m including a set of holiday cards with your session fee! The sessions will be at Capitola Beach (just a few miles from Santa Cruz). Last October I did sessions at Capitola and I fell in love! This location has the obvious sand and surf, but also has a great pier and some awesome buildings with brightly-colored stucco. It really gives that feeling of a quaint beach town. There’s so much variety there!
Sessions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis and they usually fill up fast! This is the only time I will be doing beach sessions this year.
Well I have tons of ideas for this week for beach portraits. There are really tons of things that look great at the beach. One thing to keep in mind is that the colors at the beach are fairly subdued (especially in N. Cal where we often have fog) so I usually suggest to people to wear something colorful (otherwise you run the risk of having grey ocean, grey sky, brown sand and . . . colorless clothes).
When planning portraits at the beach think of what you have that might be “out of the box” so to speak — (like the purple frilly dress from Chasing Fireflies). That’s not something you would usually wear to the beach, but the contrast between the frilly dress and the outdoorsy look of the beach looks awesome. Right now many clothing stores are sending out catalogs with pictures done at the beach. Take note of what the models are wearing and how it looks in the photograph.
