Back in April when we went out to Utah, I took some pictures of Kayla and my nieces. It’s taken me forever to get to these pictures, but I finally did it (thanks for being so patient Min!) Kayla had so much fun with her cousins! She talks about them often.

When we were loading the kids into the car, I turned around and Kayla and Avery were doing little twirls. It isn’t the greatest portrait in the world, but I thought it was cute.

This wedding was such a joy for me to photograph! Both the bride and groom are such amazing people with awesome families. There was so much love expressed at this wedding, I had tears in my eyes on more than one occasion.  Congratulations guys, and I hope you had a great time on your honeymoon!

I just wanted to give everyone a head’s-up that there are only 5 more days for our Christmas in July special! (Can you believe July is almost over?!?) This little man is so dang cute! I love his cheeks! He was such a trooper for this session — his mom said he didn’t seem like himself and we found out later he had a double ear infection!

The combination of brown and blue is one of my favorite color combos for family portraits. Here is one example of outfits for a family session (probably the hardest sessions to find clothing for!). A couple of tips when shopping for clothes: whatever skin is exposed will draw the eye right to it. So I usually suggest wearing 3/4 or long sleeves for adults (especially mom). And the same goes for legs — shorts don’t usually look great in portraits unless they’re long shorts. I would suggest capris or long pants (or skirts) for girls and mom and either long cargo-type shorts for dad and boys or long pants.

I had the opportunity to photograph this little cutie this week — he was visiting Grandma and Grandpa from up north. And I’m so glad we were able to do this session before he went home!

I first took portraits of these kids about 3 years ago — and what a memorable experience that was! We did the pictures at Lodi Lake and it just happened to be during the hottest week in recent history. I remember getting into my car at the end of the session at 8:00 and it was 108! Luckily last night we did NOT have that kind of weather! (Though it was nice to end the session with some ice cream — thanks Elizabeth!)

I had so many favorites — and I’m not even done processing all of them!

So far, most of my fashion Friday posts have focused on a single child. So this week I decided to show some outfits that would look good on siblings. One way to make choosing outfits for siblings a little bit easier is to choose a dress or a shirt or something that you love and then choose other pieces of clothing that coordinate with the print on the shirt or dress. Portraits look better when the people in them coordinate, but aren’t too “matchy-matchy.”

When I saw this little guy, I didn’t even recognize him! The last time we did his pictures at around 6 months, his hair was darker and there was a lot less of it (and no curls!) I couldn’t believe how big he’d gotten! And boy is he going to be a heartbreaker with those huge blue eyes, blond curls and perfect little lips! Watch out mom and dad!

I know it’s just the middle of summer and Christmas seems far away — but it will be here before you know it! So I figured it’s time to announce my Christmas in July special!

DETAILS: Any August and September session booked during July (starting today, July 8 through July 31) will receive a complimentary set of 5×7 flat custom-designed holiday cards. (A $94 value!) Newborn sessions will receive birth announcements, while all other sessions will receive Holiday/Christmas cards. Sessions must be booked and paid for up front.

THE CONTEST: Along with your holiday cards, each booked session will also be entered into the contest. The winner will be picked on July 31.

THE PRIZE: The winner of the contest will receive a $150 print/product credit (That’s like getting the session for free!)
