Welcome to my new Blog!

Hi, I'm Angie! Thanks for taking a moment to read my blog and view my work. I have been doing photography professionally for over five years and have loved every minute of it! (well . . . almost) :)

I specialize in lifestyle portraiture of kids and their families as well as weddings. My goal with every session is to capture the simple moments or expressions that bring out your child's personality. Some of the things that define my style are little girls in a frilly tutu on a rustic tractor or in front of a barn with peeling paint; vintage furniture in a field of weeds and hats and boots in all styles! I've been known to ask families to get IN a river for that "perfect" family picture (never mind that the two-year-old is swimming around mom and dad's legs!), and after I go prop shopping the comment I most often hear from my husband is "That is the ugliest chair I have ever seen!" But I know where there's potential!

Take a look around my blog -- this is where you can find out all of the exciting things going on at Portraits by Angie Lane -- new products, specials, events, limited edition sessions, and of course -- sneak peaks for sessions!

And when you're ready to book a custom portrait session, give me a call at (209) 607-2768. I look forward to working with you!

Look What Was On My Doorstep!

was so excited to come home the other day to find these on my doorstep (actually they were in 6 LARGE boxes,) and my son looked at me with pure amusement as squeals of excitement came from my mouth as I tore the packages open like a kid on Christmas morning! :)

Because you can customize the size of the frame moulding as well as the color, plus the style and color of pattern and style and color of the inner-moulding (as well as a few other details) I will post pictures of these frames when they come in to make it easier to visualize what they will look like.

First, a shot of SOME of the 22 frames that came:

This shot is of a 4″ neutral white frame with punk pink “waverly” moulding:IMG_0209

This is a 6″ pink polkadot frame with tide moulding:

This is a 6″ black frame with chamois tuscan flourish pattern and chamois goovy moulding:

This is a closeup of the awesome texture of this frame:

And last, but not least, this is a 4″ black frame with chamois fontleroy scroll pattern and aged glaze over the top with black tide moulding:

As you can see these frames ROCK! And you may have noticed in the “group shot’ of the frames that there were some all-white and all-black frames as well, but I didn’t take pictures of every frame.

The Beach Pictures!

We had a great time in Santa Cruz this weekend! The weather was great — it was foggy in the morning (which was great for portraits!) and then cleared up a bit in the afternoon so it was nice and warm, but not hot. I love the beach! I told Clark on the way home we can never move from California because I love the ocean too much. :) On Friday night we drove straight to the beach to try to get some shots of my kids (I especially wanted to get some of Kaden since he turns 3 TODAY!) But that didn’t happen since he fell face first into the sand fairy early on. Then Saturday morning I shot the W family. They were great! I have so many pictures to edit — I will have to somehow narrow it down. Unfortunately my Saturday evening session was canceled due to the stomach flu, so hopefully the little guy is feeling better! Here are a few of my favorites from our beach pictures — there’s going to be a lot!0144whitekbw

Shy Little Guy

Little Mr. A hadn’t seen me in a while and was really not sure what to make of me (and the giant lens on the end of my camera) :) He did finally warm up to me and we got some great shots!069riley18m200riley18m251riley18m

Christmas in July!

I know what you’re thinking — it’s over 100 degrees outside, and I’m thinking about Christmas!? Well, with Kayla starting kindergarten at the end of the month, it feels like summer is just too short this year — and before we know it, the craziness of fall will be here. So, I am offering a “Christmas in July” special on holiday cards. Over the past two years since I started offering “press printed” cards, they have been a huge hit with my clients (and the people who receive them, I’m told). All holiday cards purchased during the month of July will be 20% off. That means if we’ve done a portrait session this year and you want to use those pictures, we can order your cards NOW and you’ll be all done with worrying about holiday cards. If you are planning on doing a session later in the year, you can still take advantage of the special — just purchase the cards in July and then when we do your session, we just have to put the cards together. (You do NOT need to decide a card design in July — we can do that at the time of your session). If you have any questions on how this works, give me a call at (209) 607-2768. Here are a few examples of our holiday cards. And happy holidays!

My Little Nephews

Last week my brother and his family came out to visit from Utah. It was great to see them and their two little boys Taylor and Spencer — it had been a year, and little Spence has changed so much!! My kids had lots of fun playing with their cousins and have been asking where they are ever since they left. While they were here, we took a few minutes to take some pictures for them. (Aren’t they cute!?) It was great seeing you guys — wish you lived closer!
